2020 Level 3 Umpires Exam - Now Open!

Follow these steps to complete the test (Please read all the instructions on this page):

1. Fill in personal information and choose payment type
2. Print exam code for future reference
4. Utilize the study guide (below)
5. Answer all questions
6. Submit the test and print the results
   
We recommend that you print off the exam, complete it offline and then login in to record your final answers, to avoid a timeout of your session.

If you have already registered and paid for a 2020 SuperClinic, you will need to register for the exam and click "pay by cheque".  Then email umpire@baseballontario.com to let us know that you have registered for the exam but paid for the clinic, and we will activate your exam and send you the code.

 

2020 Level 3 Primary Exam Study Guide

Level 3 Eligibility

Please ensure that you are eligible to receive Level 3 certification.  To do so you must:

  • Have been a level 3 umpire last year; or
  • Been a level 2 umpire for at least 3 years; or
  • Received an exemption from the Baseball Ontario Umpires Committee
  • Questions? email umpire@baseballontario.com

You must also:

  • Pay your $55 fee in advance of writing the primary exam and
  • Achieve a minimum of 76% on the Level 3 umpires exam

Each writing of the primary exam costs $55.

You must register for the exam online even if you are paying by another method besides online.  Registrations will be marked paid when payment is received and an exam code will then be issued.  

Your fee can be paid one of three ways:

  • online when you register
  • by Visa or MasterCard by calling the office at (519) 740-3900
    • (be sure to mention "level 3 exam", and the umpire's name in the message, if different than account holder)
  • or by mailing a cheque or money order to the Baseball Ontario office at:

Be sure to include full contact information, including an email address when mailing in your payment.  Once cheque payments are posted, online access will be granted to complete the exam and bypass the online payment option.

The rules are based upon Baseball Ontario, Baseball Canada and professional rules.  The exam is made up of 25 questions. 

Umpires who are not successful in passing the exam can choose to write it again by following the steps outlined above, or can opt to have their card activated at level 2.3 for the season.  To do this please email your request to umpire@baseballontario.com.  In this scenario cards are not automatically updated; a request must be submitted.
