2020 Clinic Delivery

FAQs (as of April 29th)

UMPIRE PLAN

COACHING PLAN

All certification for umpires will move to online for the remainder of 2020.

Level 1 and 2 Umpires will complete online E-learning modules. Both Level 1 and Level 2 modules available as of April 15th.

APPLYING FOR A CLINIC AT THE LOCAL LEVEL

  • In the mean time, Local associations will apply to host a clinic like they did in 2019, if they haven't already
  • Umpires will register for their association's clinic (same as they did last year)
  • Once the Local Association is confident that their umpires are registered, they will let Baseball Ontario know, and Baseball Ontario will provide a login and password to the umpires to complete the online e-learning modules.
  • Just as in 2019, Baseball Ontario will reconcile the clinic, applying the host deposit against the fees incurred for the umpires who complete the training (fees listed below).
  • The host will be responsible for collecting the fees from their umpires directly, if you choose to do so, as you would have in 2019.
  •

COURSE COMPLETION

  • Once all the umpires have completed the self-directed modules, the Local Association's clinic will be reconciled on the Baseball Ontario website.

CERTIFICATION FEES

  • Baseball Ontario has lowered the certification fees for 2020
    • Level 1 certification fee will be $15
    • Level 2 certification fee will be $25

  • This approach continues to provide the opportunity for umpires to gain knowledge, education and certification.

ONFIELD PRACTICE WHEN PERMITTED BY BASEBALL ONTARIO

  • Each Local Association will also receive an Instructor Guide for their local UIC to lead an onfield practice session (drill field) for their umpires once we can safely resume baseball activity.

LEVEL 3 UMPIRES

  • Level 3 Umpires will write the exam (just like they did in 2019)... Exam is available now, and payments already received for SuperClinics will be transferred.

Baseball Ontario will continue to offer NCCP clinics through online delivery throughout 2020, as demand warrants.  If you're interested in taking a clinic, please let us know by filling out the NCCP Clinics form!  (This note added June 9,2020)

WHAT IF I WAS ALREADY REGISTERED FOR AN IN-CLASS SESSION

  • If you haven't yet, please email us to get your registration updated to an online clinic (coach@baseballontario.com)

OPEN FOR REGISTRATION

  • We are now populating https://nccp.baseball.ca/ with online clinics open for registration.

  • Please create/login to your profile on the site to register for a clinic

  • Clinics will be added based on demand

  • Keep an eye on the site, or email us if you don't see the module(s) you are looking for.

ADOBE CONNECT - TIPS

  • You must login on a computer.  A tablet or cell phone will not allow for the use of all the tools that will be implemented as part of the training.

  • The room will be open about 1/2 hour prior to the clinic start time.  Please login early to ensure you have the plugin installed and your mic and speakers are working. (Link for specific clinic will be sent after you register)
