Fitness Tax Credit

Children's Fitness Tax Credit

Baseball qualifies for the credit by getting kids active.

At the 2007 Baseball Ontario AGM, H&R Block made a presentation regarding the Children's Fitness Tax Credit that is effective for the 2007 tax year.

In order to qualify for the credit, an activity has to offer a significant amount of physical activity for the cardiovascular benefits as well as one of the following:

  • Muscular strength
  • Muscular endurance
  • Flexibility
  • Balance

The baseball program must last for at least eight weeks with a minimum of one session per week.

For kids under 10, the practice or game only has to last 30 minutes. For kids 10-16, it is an hour per week.

There is no standard receipt for the Children's Fitness Credit. Each local association must issue their own receipt.

Receipts needs to include:

  • The organization's name and address
  • The name of the eligible program or activity
  • The total amount received
  • The date received
  • The amount eligible for the Children's Fitness Credit
  • The full name of the payer
  • The name of the child and year of birth
  • An authorized signature if the receipt is not generated electronically
