Named as the First Base Coach for the Toronto Blue Jays on October 18, 2005.

Personal: 1979 graduate of Windsor Forest H.S. in Savannah, Georgia... Was selected All-State in baseball... Attended Georgia Southern College for three years where he was selected All-Conference.

Professional Career: 1983: Eighth in South Atlantic League in batting (.312)... 1984: Fourth in Florida State League in batting (.308)... Selected to league All-Star game and received Howe Sportsdatas Star of Stars Award as Most Valuable Player in game... Belted grand slam July 6 vs. Winter Haven and banged out five hits April 15 vs. West Palm Beach... Selected to post-season All-Star team... 1985: Sixth in Florida State League in batting (.290)... Played in All-Star game... Had five hits June 8 vs. Tampa... 1988: Named Most Valuable Player in the American Association Championship Series, hitting .545 (6-11) with one homer and three RBI... Hit .185 in 27 games at Caracas in the Venezuelan Winter League... 1989: Called up to Expos in mid-May and made major league debut May 16 vs. Padres... Had first big league hit in his next game at San Francisco May 24... Went 3-for-3 with double vs. Phillies June 11... 1991: Banged out five hits September 3 vs. Rochester... 1993: Best offensive output of season came May 6 at Richmond as he went 4-for-5 with 2 RBI.

Coaching Career: Began his coaching career with Dunedin in 1996... In 1997, he became manager of Medicine Hat of the Pioneer League... He was named skipper at Hagerstown of the South Atlantic League in 1998 and was Toronto's bullpen coach in 1999... Returned to the managing ranks in 2000 with Dunedin where he was named as the Florida State League's Manager-of-the-Year... Led Dunedin as manager in the 2001 and 2002 seasons... Named as the Manager for New Haven of the Eastern League (AA) for the 2003 season... Led the Ravens to top spot in the Northern Division earning honours as the Eastern League Manager of the Year... Under his direction, the Ravens collected more hits and scored more runs than any other team in the league... After defeating New Britain in the Northern Division championship, fell to Akron in the league championship final... Was appointed as the Manager for the Syracuse SkyChiefs on November 3, 2003... Under his direction, the SkyChiefs posted a 66-78 record in the 2004 season and a 71-73 mark in 2005... Shortly after the end of the International League season in early September, was called to Toronto to serve as the teams First Base Coach on an interim basis... Named to the position on a full-time basis and given a two-year contract running through the end of the 2007 season on October 18, 2005.
